First, I have had no special problems (other than the ones I have caused
myself) with 6.02. However I have some interesting problems with a fairly
complex set up. My daughter has produced a project on TMG I shall call Royals. One
of our ancestors links back to a lot of English and French Royalty including
Robert the Bruce, Charlemayne and William the Conqueror. Naturally this file
has a different "name style" because the names of such folks do not fit the
modern "John Roger Jones" format. I merged a file of my modern ancestors into
Royals. The merge was successful. No problems, particularly, except the
Relationship Calculation function for the merged file does not work. It doesn't
give me crazy answers, it just doesnt work at all. I suspect this has something
to do with the different styles of the two merged projects but do not know.
Another interesting aspect of this merge. I have to merge the US style project
into the European style one. If I try to do the opposite, that is, merge the
Royals into my project (the US one) I seem to have a successful merge but
there are no names listed in the picklist, just ID numbers. Perhaps if someone
could explain some of this it would give me a better understanding of
"styles". Or maybe that is not the problem at all! Comments appreciated from someone
who knows more than I do about TMG which is probably most of you-Dale
