Actually, it is labeled the "Addressee" field, which connotes a person vs. a
place.
Addressee - NOUN: The _one_ to whom something is addressed.

I always wondered why it was named "Addressee" when it was supposed to be
part of the _place_ definition... but someone said it was for use in mailing
labels. Still doesn't make much sense to me. Almost no one I know uses it
for that purpose but we have found all sorts of other uses for it!
