I was, also, at my local family history center today and the opposite
happened. The volunteer was explaining to someone how to spot poorly
documented family histories, and how to check them or just ignore them.
Shoot, she made me think of this list with her extended conversation about
fact finding and citation. <g>

Hello All, I was in the local library today checking some census records and
overheard a conversation between the people on the other machines, To make a
long story short they agreed that old pictures entered in a genealogy
project really didn't have to be pictures of the people as no-one could
question weather they were authentic or not. I wondered how much of this
goes on and why would you even bother with your family tree if you were
going to do this?Your Comments Please- Wayne
