List of events tag type label = Marriage and Prin 2 ID = 0 worked as far as
identifing the marriages with only one spouse.
I guess to get a report that gives the citation detail for each one I would
need to create a focus group from this list and then produce a list of
citations report for the focus group.
Thanks for your help it had been driving me mad.

Try a List of Events with filter of Tag Type Label = Marriage and Prin 2
ID = 0.
