When you open the Report Definition screen, hover the mouse over the
lower right corner of the window until the cursor changes to a
double-headed arrow. Hold the left button down and drag the corner
down and to the right until the font size increases to what you want.

Here I am unsure what you tried to do in this regard. When the
Report Definition Screen is opened, you should select the One person
radio button for the Subject(s) of the report. If the the intended
focus person of the report (e.g., Adam) is currently the individual
shown in the Details window, you may select the Use the current focus
person option and that will automatically select the One person
option and enter the ID# for Adam into the field.

You do not need to note any of the descendants as the design of the
report is for descendants and thus they will be included. You can
limit the number of generations included in the report to less than
15 (the maximum) is you desire. This option is located on the
Options window General tab (click on the [Options] button of the
Report Definition Screen).

If this doesn't get what you want, tell us the details of what you
want and what you tried.

Hope this helps -
