Wayne,
Probably the first thing to do in this instance is to find out the
parameters of the census. I'm not familiar with the Canadian census but it
is possible that the census asks who lived in the household in the previous
calendar year instead of at the time the census is taken. Or, as frequently
happens in the U.S. census, perhaps the information was given not by a
family member but a neighbor instead.
Do you have the death certificate for the child or just an entry in an
index? If that's the case, there is a possibility of an error in the
recording itself. Try to get the death certificate itself to rule out this
error.
Bob

Subject: [TMG] Conflicting Info
Hello All, I know I have read here some time ago to enter information as it
is found. But after thinking about this Im wondering were does the false
info end. I have a child who according to the death records for Ontario died
July 10th 1900. However she appears on the census records in April of 1901.
Your comments or suggestions are appreciated, Wayne Colton
