Thanks for pointing that out, Kevin & Bob, but you mis-read my post.
The length of the filename, pathname included, is not and was never the
problem. It was only 108 characters long and TMG created ascii reports
with much longer names.

It's the depth that's the problem. The TMG module that tries to open
this file cannot handle files at this level. Other module of TMG can
and do handle filenames at this level and at least 2 levels deeper.

The problem IS entirely TMG's fault. TMG should either not have such
restrictions or note them clearly. It's not a gross error, just an
oversight of something on an upgrade to a new operating system [at least
that's my guess]. It bit me bad, and I just don't want that to happen to
anybody else.
