Actually, it does, exactly as Michael describes.

No, he's doing exactly what he said - selecting a tag which has
another Principal, then changing to the Tree or Family View.

I don't know that it ever changed - it's the same in TMG 5.15, and in
TMG 4.0d, which is the oldest version I have installed.
