I use a keyword to designate a location for research. For example, I do a
lot of research in St. Louis and a lot in central Illinois. So I use the
keywords "St. Louis" and "Illinois". I can print a task report that is
localized to those regions for when I make a trip back home. Other keywords
that I use are "FHC" for Family History Center.....or whatever. Then I name
the task "Get birth record" or whatever is applicable. Since the name of
the individual comes up automatically, I don't mess with that.
I can't remember who gave me that tip, but I know I got it from this mailing
list.

Subject: [TMG] Research Log - Request to listers
Hi List,
Since there's been some discussion on this topic recently, I have a request.
I have seen many ways of naming a task and of using the keywords. I can't
seem to stay with one way. Either that means I haven't found my "perfect"
way or I'm a flighty b%&#h who can't concentrate for two minutes. (Want to
bet which it is?)
If you don't mind, I would love to see how you handle these. Just a brief
description and why or how it helps you for both the name and keyword field
would be great. If you have any other research log "tricks" that seem to
work for you, send 'em along too. If you send them to me privately, I will
compile them and present them to the list.
Oh yeah, a brief description of the reports you use for what purpose would
be good too. If we get some good ones (I'm sure they are all good, or you
wouldn't be using them), I could post all of this to the WG forum with your
report definitions.
Wow, this seems to have become an all inclusive "Everything you always
wanted to know about the Research Log, but were afraid to ask" type of
thing.
I can be reached at
Thanks for your help,
Laurie
