bob, IF I'm understanding you correctly this morning, you are now saying
that when you add a person in the Tag memo you are NOT actually adding the
person to your database at all. Is that correct? IF that is correct, then
that is your method of doing it, but it doesn't really have anything to do
with witnesses or roles used in sentences does it? I think the fallout of
this thread is that a person is a person, not to be confused with the role
that person may play. *Some* of your person entries do not get any database
entry whatever, while other people would enter these same people in their
database.
The other part is that using roles does NOT require anyone to add any
unnecessary people to their data. An additional person can be mentioned in a
variety of ways, as it appears that you do. However, if an additional person
is added to the database, they are there for better or worse with no regard
for what role they may be playing. Individual users can make the choice to
use roles or not.
As for data clutter -- what is one persons clutter is another persons pot of
gold at the end of the rainbow.
