Yes and this also includes all program-modifiable data files such as
app.ini. We're talking about a lot of files here. The basic WinVista
security policy is that you do not write to the Program Files tree (after
install, of course). Update installers should work if they follow the rules.
WinVista provides a space in the user tree for program data files in
something like...
C:\Users\(user name or all users)\AppData\Local\WhollyGenes\The Master
Genealogist\etc.
The user data would be in something like ...
C:\Users\(user name)\Documents\The Master Genealogist\etc.
All of this is similar to what exists under WinXP but things have been moved
around a bit and User Account Control enforces the rules.
