Dear Santa,
I have tried to be a very good boy this year. I really am sorry for messing
up Lisa's family tree, but it was wrong. She wasn't a very nice girl either
and she's mean to me. Maybe you could bring her presents to me too.
Here is a list of what I would like:
Red Ryder BB Gun (I promise not to shoot Lisa in the eye)
Ralph T. Whitelaw, Virginia's Eastern Shore : A History of Northampton and
Accomack Counties, 2 volumes (Gloucester, MA: Peter Smith, 1981)
James Handley Marshall, Abstracts of the Wills and Administrations of
Northampton County Virginia 1632-1802 (Camden MA: Picton Press)
Jean Mihalyka & William R.M. Houston, Colonial Residents of Virginia's
Eastern Shore (Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1985)
John O'Hart, Irish Pedigrees - The Origin of the Irish Nation, 4 volumes
(US: Long Riders' Guild Press, 2001)
Any books I don't have on south central Virginia surnames and history
Wall map of Halifax County covering from Scottsburg to the northern county
line
Wall maps of Accomack and Northampton Counties in Virginia and Somerset
County in Maryland
Lightweight tripod that can double as a desktop tripod
New machete to replace the one I lost (I promise not to attack Lisa with it)
Proof of who Samuel's father was
Proof of who Arthur's father was
Patience to photograph Will Book #1 in the Accomack County Court House
If you think of anything else, please bring it too.
Santa, I promise to be really good next year. I'll even be nice to Lisa!
<hurl> If my Christmas List is too long, I guess I could do without the
Somerset County wall map for another year.
Tom
P.S. We really should talk about Lisa. And don't bring her coal (she would
throw them at me) or sticks (she would hit me with them).
