Like a Custom Tag, a Custom Role is useful if you will be using that
Role many times with essentially the same data types. If the same
Tag/Role is not to be used much, I suggest not creating one.

I am unsure what you want to accomplish, but what you have is a
Source document and should be added as a Source and not necessarily
as a separate Tag. That is, the particulars of the birth would be
entered in a Birth Tag and the description of the clipping entered as
a Source. The Source would then be attached via a Source Citation to
the Birth Tag. I would not generally transcribe the clipping except
for small phrasings that are unusual. If you wish to have a
transcription of the clipping to be handy, you could attach one as an
Exhibit probably attached to the Source record.

The differences would be the actual data (e.g., Principal(s),
Witness(es) (if any), Date, place, and Memo). You may have multiple
Roles that state the same thing in different ways to allow your
reports to vary and not sound like they are made by a computer. In
the case you mention here (which I assume is a newspaper clipping of
a birth announcement, it sounds adding the content of a Source to the
Person View. While you may certainly do this, you need to keep in
mind that the clipping is a Source. The data from Sources should be
entered in the appropriate Tag(s) with the Source attached as a
Source Citation. You may wish to include a transcription of the
clipping as an Exhibit (normally) attached to the Source. But unless
the clipping

Hope this helps -
