Rae Jean,

Currently you can't do that, but by putting them into the citation list, and
then excluding them, you can come close.

Since (IMHO) it is likely that embedded citations will remain limited to
only tag MEMO fields, then I remove my suggestion for a new _EMBEDDED
CITATION BOX_ as I have another thought on how to show when those embedded
citations occur.

If instead, TMG added the letter E (an example - for embedded) to the
current surety code values of 12DPM (example - would become 12DPME) then
that surety value could alert a user to the usage of an embedded citation in
that memo.
This could allow embedded citations to be counted (when surety value coded)
and would certainly give the ability to filter on that surety value (when
used).

I doubt all users are interested in "identification of embedded citations."

Rae Jean,
My proposal would have the citations in the _Citation box_ be able to
have their reference embedded. As Jim Bryam has stated, the current
program has more capabilities to deal with the citations in the standard
citation box than with embedded citations. With the recommendation
added to my proposal that their be some mark on the citation in the
standard citation box that this citation is referenced in an embedded
location there would be no need for a NEW box. Further, such an
identifier on a "standard" would be a good candidate for including in
the existing List of Citations filtering for citations that have the
embedded reference marked. And since my proposal is simply to move the
reference for "standard" citation to an embedded location, you retain
all the features of the "standard" citations, such as prompt for the CD
and CM, split CDs, etc. I think this proposal would provide the
features and capabilities you request without an added box.
