Then I could run the two of them at the same time?.....and not have to merge
them?

Yes, you can merge -- manually. <g> Sorry, there is no provision to
combine two Timelines.

I don't know that there is any real advantage to merging them except
you would only select one Timeline instead of two. Actually
multiple "small" Timelines is often better than one "large" one as the
smaller Timelines allow you to "turn off" one or more so that the Timeline
events don't overwhelm the Person View.
