Subject: [TMG] Transfer place date(s) to place field?
Date: Tue, 05 Aug 2008 13:04:05 -0400

Two places identical except for their dates will not be combined by
optimize (good).
They will appear as one in the (f2) list (not good, in my opinion).
A way around this would be to make them different in at least one of the
ten data fields.
It would be helpful if an otherwise unused field (personal choice) could
have the dates in it.
I visualize, for instance, the phone field having "1643-1788" or
something similar.
Is there a way the TMG utility could copy the dates into that data
field? Off hand I don't see the Utility as being able to process the
date fields of places.

This situation arises with colonies and states having the same name
(Norwich, New London, CT).

I *prefer* not to put the word "colony" in the state field to
differentiate them although I recognize this as a possible solution. If
I were to choose that solution, then it would be helpful if the Utility
could be used to logically suffix that word into the state field if one
of the dates was less than a given number.
