Terry,
I had forgotten all about the sureties being displayed in the Citation Window as their presence there does not impact the use of the window and I guess, over time, I have just ignored them there.

The Add Person Window is an area where you can't ignore them, and they do negatively impact the user when adding data there, if the user does not use sureties for events issues.

The third area is the Source Definition Window.  Having an enhanced filter when addressing the Src Surety Default could make for powerful list-of-events report writing.  Supporting a filter of does-not-contain a specific surety default value, say 3, could allow the user to identify birth, marriage, and death events needing to be looked up at a specific location, such as a court house.

I assume the citation sureties and the add person sureties for the same event are the same sureties.

Having an option to totally eliminate surety display in my mind would not be beneficial.   Mostly needed is the option to remove sureties from the add person window. The user still has the option then to change their mind using the citation window.

I'm puzzled by why one would enter sureties in individual tags, but not enter them when creating those same tags by use of the Add Person screen. Could anyone explain why they find this useful?

I was about to suggest that there should be a way to turn off all sureties, but this suggests some users only want them removed from the Add Person screen, a situation I had not expected.
