Chris
My method is different. I enter the sort date (as first item) in the tag M2
field, then it shows up on the Detail view screen -- one reason this works
from me is that I usually use sort dates when there is a lack of
information. The tag on Detail view might look something like this:

*Marriage _ _ _ Bride; Thomas Bonner (4095, X); NC, || sort date 1716
*Birth _ _ _ || sort date 1698 -- only guess

One reason I like this method is that I can see both dates on the detail
view (without opening a tag) -- the majority of my date entries are not sort
dates.

Jim,

I want both. In fact, an even better option than showing the sort
date by mouseover would be an option to show both dates when the
number of rows per tag is set to two or more, actual date on row 1
and sort date on row 2, maybe with the further option to show the
sort date in a contrasting color.
