It's considered bad form to use all caps in an e-mail, but I really should have put the word "AND" in all caps in my original message. <vbg>
My badly worded suggestion was to use both the invitation and an interview with a "witness" as the source for the wedding. I did not mean to imply that an invitation alone is enough, as Lee and others have pointed-out. An interview alone would probably be enough, but an invitation is helpful in confirming locations, dates, spelling-out the couple's names and often providing the names of one or more sets of parents of the bride/groom.
Again, on-line searches shortly after the event will often yield announcements and obituaries in online-versions of newspapers.
