Subject: Re: [TMG] Fw: Problem with Adding a Person
Date: Mon, 02 Feb 2009 09:39:41 -0500
Linda and others, particularly Lee Hoffman: My problem with adding people is not the same but I had one, finally solved it and want to pass along the experience for anyone else who runs into the problem. I have never discovered just why this happened but it did. I started getting lthe red icon with abort etc when I tried to add a person to a project. I would click "abort" and go back to the add person tag. When I clicked OK again I received a blue message telling me that I couldn't add the person because I was tryinjg to use an ID number already in use. This little circle would continue until I gave up in disgust. I tried backing up and restoring, shutting the computer down, Optimizing the project, re-indexing, cursing, kicking the computer and anything else I could think of to do. I tried changing the index number but to no avail. I finally went to "tools", and renumbered the whole project. This seems to solve the problem and everything is working fine. However since I do n!
ot know the cause of the problem, I can not avoid it in the future. Incidentally the problem was project unique. It happened with only one project and was not a program problem. I might add I pay little attention to index numbers. I do not use them for any purpose of mine. I accept TMG's assignment of such and charge ahead.- I hope this helps someone. Lee if you can offer a cause for this behavior, that would be nice too.-Dale

Subject: [TMG] Fw: Problem with Adding a Person
I have since backed up, closed and reopened my project and am now able to add a
person. Does anyone think I should contact Tech Support and ask for their
advice or should everything be ok now.
""I have one project, with over 3000 people in it which are within a single
dataset. I have tried to add a new person as a wife but I keep getting the same
"It is not possible to add person to an empty
project. Please, go to Data set manager
and create a new data set". This problem has only arisen today as I added quite
a few yesterday without any difficulties. I backed up the project last night
but have added quite a lot of information today.
Has anyone else come across this before and can I sort this myself or do I have
to contact "Tech Support".""
