You aren't the only one, but maybe it's just in our blood. LOL I started a
few years back when there appeared to be a bug in TMG that if there was a
space it printed properly and if there wasn't sometimes it did, sometimes it
didn't. The space isn't hard to add, and makes it far easier for me to read,
so I just got in the habit.

(For those wondering, Rae Jean and I are really distant cousins.)

For this very reason, I have selected to use a space before and after each
set of pipes.
For example, instead of ||||, I use || || in memos or citations.
Also use a space when a single set of pipes appears, such as in a memo --
buried next to her second husband || according to cited cemetery survey.
I doubt that I am the only user to do this but thought I would mention my
usage since, IMHO, it better identifies when pipes are present (and the
number thereof).
Using a space does not cause problems.

If the problem occurs for only the Short or the Full Footnote, then I
would check the Source Template giving the problem. Other than that,
I cannot think of anything that might cause the problem unless the
Citation Detail Entry has an extra pairs of "pipes" causing the CD2,
CD3, and CD4 entries to be CD5, CD6 and CD7 of something like
that. In other words, re-check that each set of "pipes" is correct
and there are no extras. This means that you don't have "|||" or
"|||||" or whatever instead of "||".
