Why not?

There are a variety of ways to set up "generic" sources. Or you can set up a custom Source Types, then create a Source using that type for each document.

The example you cited was placing details about the specific source - you can't do that with a "generic source" - to do that, all the details that differ between different applications of that Source must be in the Citation Details. However, you could create a Source Type for films and create a new Source for each film, placing the details in the Source Definition.
