I got TMG 7.04 running on Linux (Google and you will find the instructions)
using the Wine add-on but it wasn't very usable because the screen size was
too small. Mine is one of the smallest Netbook screens :)

I am going to use if for view only and use another application to display
the data exported as Gedcom. Need to try a few and see what works best.

I have been researching netbooks, and the only caution I would add is
about HP. They have apparently switched operating systems to Linux in an
effort to lower the price point. I don't think TMG will run with Linux
as the OS.
I have pretty much decided on the Dell mini 10V, with a 6 cell battery
and 2GB memory. You can buy refurbished at the Dell site for a good deal
of savings.
