As with ALL my data files, I keep my Windows Live Mail storage location on
an external working HDD. I read my Email online, and the download any that
I think I might ever want to reference again. I have Emails back as far as
1998 stored.

I make an export copy of my entire Windows Live mailbox frequently to
another storage location on my working external HDD. Then periodically, I
make copies of my data file to a 2nd external HDD, my backup HDD.

With several backup fresh copies of my mailbox stored stored on two
independent HDDs, I can delete really old stuff from my in-use Windows Live
Mail storage location. First, I make another export to another location to
a third external (Archive) HDD. Then I delete the really old files from my
Windows Live Mail working storage location.

Deleting files and folders from within Windows Live mail only deletes the
Windows live Mail directory. The files and folders remain intact on the HDD
working storage. It is best, although not necessary to delete those files
and folders from the working Windows Live Mail HDD.

Now, if needed, I can import any or all of my archived Email back into my
Windows Live Mail. Now I can read, print, and even reply to any formerly
archived Email.

All this looks complicated, but for those with a good working knowledge of
Windows storage file and folder manipulation, it is fairly straight forward.
This works for me. Others can half better ways to preserve and use their
info
