Youn don't note what is included with each backup copy. Did you have
different settings for the two backups within the Backup Wizard. For
example, do you use External Exhibits and did one backup include
External Exhibits and the other not? (see Step 3 of the Backup Wizard).
Another possibility is if you have Optimized your project
(File=>Maintenance=>Optimize from the Main Menu) lately? If you did
and you had a lot of changes since the last optimization then this
could account for the difference. Optimization basically cleans up a
lot of junk that is left over from doing data entry and editing of
your project. For example, if you are editing a record (Tag, Source
record, etc.) and maybe decide that you really don't want it anymore
then you delete the record. You don't see it anymore, but it remains
in the file (it can be recovered if it is needed, but it takes some
special work to do this). After a time, these deleted and discarded
records can build up in the project files. They don't really cause
any problems, but eventually could reduce the efficiency of your
project unless they are fully deleted. Thus, periodically, you
should optimize. I usually optimize a couple times a week if I am
really doing a lot of work -- otherwise I may not optimize once a
month or more.
Hope this helps -
