Lee,
Believe me, if I could've, I'd already have suggested it. <G> Like you, I
don't see a way that would be easy enough to implement, that wouldn't cause
more issues than it fixes, and that multiple users would use to make it cost
effective. For me, being able to create a tag, create the task the way I
want, THEN create multiple copies of that tag, (where I could then just
change the ID number for P1) would be the easiest and fastest way (and has
been asked for by other users-creating multiple copies of tags). When
copying a tag, you also copy any research tasks attached to that tag, so to
me (wanting my tasks attached to tags) that would be the fastest way. But
that doesn't help the person who just wants general tasks, or who wants them
attached to the person, or just a source, or just a repository.
While I may desire this (and many more users may as well), there are so many
ways to create a task with so many variables, I just don't see a way that it
could be easily implemented. I wish I could come up with a method that
would be A) idiot proof (since I can be an idiot at times when creating data
LOL) B) easy to program and C) desirable by more than just the casual users.
But like you, I haven't so far. Like you said, if whollygenes could speed
up the creation of general tasks, I'd still have to edit those and that may
be more time consuming than just creating the tasks one by one, especially
in a database that is very large. But hey, a girl can dream.

But the idea would not be that General Tasks would be what you would
have in the end. I was just theorizing one possible implementation
albeit probably a better way could be realized. The idea would be
that after importing, the General Tasks would be converted to a
person or event (Tag) Tasks. But whether this would save any
time/key entry is questionable.
In the same way, person, Source, and Repository Tasks could be
imported in the same way (although there may be a slight problem
there) negating the conversion need. But at present, I cannot see
how to implement the importation of event (Tag) Tasks) in such a way
that it would be a time/key entry savings.
