I am not that old yet, and I agree. What does it hurt?

I was trained to always use two spaces after the end of a sentence and in
other places, and I shall continue to do so. It is very important in making

the text legible. I am 87 years old, and my eyesight is not very good any
more. The two spaces are very necessary to distinguish between the end of a

sentence and a sentence that continues.

Therefore, one should always use two spaces at the end of a sentence.
