I use different name tag types for different sources. The birth name as Ian
wants to call it is my Nick Name tag. It allows me to enter a person's full
name with the name they used most in " ". Like William Robert "Billy Bob"
Smith, or Harry Wayne "Cooter" Jones.
Then I have name tags for wills, deeds, census, marriage, etc. I can tell
from the tag type where the name came from. The person may not have went by
any of those actual names, but it's how they were recorded in a certain
document. Like Ian, I rarely source the name, but I can still tell where
the name came from by the tag type.
But like Terry, I do use citations on the ADD PERSON screen. The first time
I add someone it's usually from a census or a tombstone. That's one source
I can add multiple times. It would be nice if we had an ADD SOURCE screen
that brought up each person's tags like the add person screen and we could
by adding sureties bulk add a source to any tag on that list.

I beg to differ. I think most users enter sources when they add people, and
thus end up with citations for each tag that is created by the Add Person
screen. The fact that you choose not to do that is why you don't have
citations on your Name tags, and why you can't tell which names came from
which source.
