To add to what Ian said, once you have made corrections you may see
duplicates in the list. To merge those you need to run Optimize to clean up
the list.

Another great help in TMG is the HELP FILE. In any screen, type F1 (that's
the function 1 key usually found at the top of your keyboard). It will
bring up a help file for that specific screen.

Basically what that means, in people speak, is that the Master Place
list shows Detail, City, County, State, Country, etc so you are looking
at your whole database at one shot.

After an import things will often end up in the wrong field so it is an
easy way to edit them and move them left or right with CTRL+LArrow or
CTRL+RArrow. When you do that it moves the data over. If there is data
in the field you are moving to it gets pushed over. It's also an easy
way to spot spelling mistakes and fix them by using the edit which opens
up that record. Also when entering data, such as burial you might call a
cemetery St. Marys or St Marys or St. Mary's and if you go into the
Master Event List and scroll to burials you can see and correct them
there to make uniform. (This is first time I have ever looked at it and
see a lot of errors like that).
