Subject: [TMG] Back-up Problem -- External Exhibits
Date: Fri, 27 May 2011 18:40:36 -0700 (PDT)
I am having a problem that I first encounter a couple of years ago. I have been inspired to try get to the root cause by the
"Back-up Failure" thread that was started earlier this week.
The back-up routine Aborts and gives the same message that others report: "Input file read failure...file read operation is performed on a ZIP file that is
locked or is restricted by another process." Then another small window appears that states "Output file write error, possible disk ' "
Symptoms: This error message always stops when trying to back up the same external
image. It is about 75% through backing up ~ 2800 external exhibits. I have looked at the details of this exhibit and everything looks OK. It is a normal .jpg file. The path to the exhibit is correct, as per the exhibit "properties window."
In an attempt to resolve this I have un-attached the exhibit, re-attached it and again backed-up-- no change. I have un-attached the exhibit and then backed-up -- again the same error messages but this time on another exhibit at about the same spot on the "progress bar."
I have also tried all the suggestions made over the last 2-3 days regarding Norton 360 -- no change in the error message or the exhibit on which the back-up aborts.
This makes me wonder:
Is there possibly a limit to the number of external exhibits that can be backed up?
Or, to the cumulative size of the exhibits being backed up?
For background:
Running Windows
XP, SP3, TMG Gold, Version
7.04
I have plenty of disk space to accommodate the back-up.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. As always, they are much appreciated.
