I have gone through the HELP section and I am not _quite_ certain this
applies to my query

I made a mistake when I was copying various people from a small data set
into my main data set and ended up with various doubles. At the present
time I am merging each of the doubles so that is solving that problem but my
query is as follows: I now have some missing ID numbers and I would like
to, if possible, resort all my ID numbers so there will be no blank spaces.
If I Reindex and Optimize, will this do what I want
