Bill and Terry:
I admin close to two dozen RootsWeb mailing lists. If the statement
about MSN Explorer not sending plain text is accurate, and if the
workaround is too cumbersome, then MSN Explorer is simply not a very
practical choice for use with RootsWeb.
The problem is that RootsWeb's mailing list robots will try, usually
successfully, to strip all HTML coding out of a message before sending
it off to the admin to deal with. However, the attempt occasionally
fails. It may not always be obvious to the sender that happened, or why.
It is just like depending on Tags in TMG appearing in a certain order,
even though they have the same date and sort date. Often it works. Then,
for reasons that are not readily apparent, it doesn't (TMG Help is clear
that can happen).
If you have a choice, and if RootsWeb mailing lists are important to
you, in my opinion you should not use MSN Explorer.
It would take a pole a lot longer than ten feet for me to touch an
e-mail client that did not allow me to send plain text as the default.
