Fred,  I enter the last name or even just the first name if that is all I have
(that has happened) with ---?--- in the other (first or last field) that I don't
know.  Then, so that in the Project Exlorer I see who this person without names
is and how they fit, I use the suffix field (because this field shows in the PE)
to put something like {mother of John Doe} or {father of Jim Smith}.  Note the
sensitivity brackets--so it won't print but I can see it in the PE.  You have to
enter at least one parent, usually a father.  But if I know only the mother's
first name, I assume the married name and make her maiden name unknown. Then add
a marriage to an unknown man with the same surname as the child.  I do note that
it is an assumption.

I've had a case where I knew 6 brother's names but had no clue as to the
parents.  So I added unknown parents with the father having the same surname as
the sons, and an unknown woman with a married name the same as the sons.  Then I
added the note in the brackets in the suffix field to tell me who they were and
how they connect.  Then I could add all the sons to those unknown parents.  Yes,
maybe there is another mother and they are 1/2 siblings, but when I find that
out, I will make the corections.  In the case of the 6 brothers I even knew the
first name of one of the mother's sisters so had to add another set of unknown
parents in order to enter her.

Once I know the names I remove the entry in the suffix field and finish up the
person's entry.

I am trying to add a brother to a person for whom there are no known parents. 
However, I do know the name of the subject person's brother.  I get an error
message stating: "Neither of the subject's parents are known so siblings cannot
be added."  I have unchecked the box under Preferences, Add Person,
"disqualifying parents."

What else do I have to do to let me add this person?
