Jim,

I am another who has issues with this 'enhancement'. I made some comments a
week or so ago but I still cannot see the logic in that, if I have two tag
types Tag XXXX and Tag YYYY which just happen to have roles labelled General
and Specialist, and I change a role name in Tag XXXX from General to
Non-General, why is the programme assuming that I also want to change that
in Tag YYYY. They happen to be spelt the same way, but I may be using them
for totally different purposes.

The added restriction that the renamed (i.e. new) role name has to be
completely different from any other role in my project(s) will a real
limitation to me - it's not easy to check ALL tag types for role names when
adding one that is new.

There have been statements made in this forum that TMG doesn't make
assumptions about my data, yet this 'enhancement' is making the presumption
that I do want to rename these labels to be the same when that's NOT my
intention. It strikes me that this re-design hasn't considered the fact that
many (most?) users already have a large number of roles in their projects.

You noted that the role translations were requested by Dutch, German and
Norwegian. Would it be possible to make the translation facility an option
(either programme or project specific) to be enabled or disabled in
preferences, and make the default disabled? I still have some problems with
accepting the fact that I need a 'translation' between English US and
English UK, as Teresa is with English US and English 2!

Cheers

Teresa,

> I am not sure why this new translation feature was added...

Role name translations were added at the request of the Dutch, German and
Norwegian translators.

What happened to them when the new role Last Role was created, and my old
role was renamed to Last Role. Where are they?

If you replace the role 'Last Role' with a new role, then you need to adjust

where it is used. You didn't rename the role.

If you changed the translation in English2, then the sentences should have
been updated.

That is a good question, however, and I wonder if all of the implications of

that have been tested.
