This comes from Donnie Phillips of Birmingham, AL. area. He states that he has been researching the GREER family for many years. He says that he can go back to Otey Prosser GREER (1801-1832) His son Benjamin K. GREER is buried in the Weems Cemetery in Charlotte, TN., here in Dickson County. The question is does our Southern Middle Tennessee (GREER &PROSSER) name have anything to do with Otey Prosser GREER. He states that he is assuming that he was named for the Otey PROSSER that fought in the Revolutionary War and received a Georgia land grant and was buried there. Before going to Georgia, Otey PROSSER evidently was in Virginia when he was serving in the Revolutionary War and there were GREER family members living in the same county in Virginia. Is there a connection between Otey PROSS
