F. C. OUTLAW, M. D. An able and skilful physician of Palmyra, F. C. Outlaw,
M. D., is also well known in this section of the county as an extensile and
successful agriculturist. The son of a physician, the late John F. Outlaw. M.
D., he was born September 27, 1862, in Montgomery county, Tennessee, and has
here spent the greater part of his life.

John F. Outlaw, M. D., a native of Tennessee, born in 1821, was educated in
Montgomery county. Scholarly in his tastes, and ambitious, he studied both law
and medicine, becoming proficient in both professions. As a young man he taught
school for awhile in Montgomery county, and when ready to begin the practice of
medicine established himself in that county, and was there a resident until his
death, April 10, 1911. He was very successful as a physician and surgeon during
the three score years in which he ministered to the sick, and built up an
extensive and lucrative patronage. Dr. John F. Outlaw was a strong Democrat in
politics. He was prominent in Masonic circles, having organized McCulloch Lodge,
Ancient Free and Accepted Order of Masons, at Palmyra, and having been a member
of the chapter of the same place, of the Royal Arch Masons, commandery and the
Knights Templar.

Dr. J. F. Outlaw married Agnes H. Smith, who was born in 1826, in Tennessee,
and is now living with her son, Dr. F. C. Outlaw, in the old home. Five of the
children born of their union are now living, as follows: Eunice A., living with
her brother, F. C. Outlaw; James E., of Sumner county, Tennessee; Gordon E.,
traveling in the interests of the American Supply Company; F. C., the special
subject of this brief personal sketch; and Sallie A., wife of L. C. Haynes. of
Montgomery county. The widowed mother is one of the oldest members of the
Methodist Episcopal church, with which both she and her husband united many
years ago.

Having completed the course of study in the public schools of his native
county, F. C. Outlaw entered the medical department of Vanderbilt University, in
Nashville, Tennessee, from which he was graduated with the degree of M. D. in
1891. Becoming at once associated with his father, he gave close attention to
his professional duties, and by means of his skill and ability built up a large
and highly remunerative practice in the vicinity, being now one of the best
known and most popular physicians of that part of the county. At the present
time the doctor is withdrawing from active practice, and devoting his attention
to the care of his large farm of four hundred and thirty-four acres. He is a
practical agriculturist, and is making a success in the raising of tobacco, corn
and hay, and in the breeding and raising of mules, which he finds a profitable
industry.

Politically Dr. Outlaw is affiliated with the Democratic party. Fraternally
he is a member of the. Ancient Free and Accepted Order of Masons, at Oakwood,
and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of which he was master two years.
Religiously he is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
