BOOS, ALAN JON - age 56, a former resident of Clinton, passed away Saturday,
January 27, 2001, at his residence in Richland, Washington. He was born April
24, 1944, to Philip and Beatrice Boos in Grand Rapids, Mich. Mr. Boos was a
graduate of the University of Michigan, where he received his Master's in
Civil Engineering. Alan was married to his wife, Nancy, on April 24, 1971. He
worked for Bechtel Corporation for 31 years, in the Power and Environmental
Divisions. His hobbies included remodeling homes and collecting Lionel
trains. Alan is survived by his wife of 29 years, Nancy; sons, Matthew and
Gregory, and his mother, Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his father,
Philip; brothers, Scott and Philip. A celebration of Alan's life for friends
and family will be held Saturday, February 17, from 3-6 p.m. at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Coxon at 114 Crestview Lane, Oak Ridge. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center, 7350 W.
Deschutes Ave., Kennewick, Wash. 99336, or to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, 2108
W. Entiat, Kennewick, Wash. 99336.
CARMICHAEL, NELL CECIL - age 69, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, January 30,
2001 at her residence. She was a retired secretary with National Laboratory
at the X-10 plant in Oak Ridge with approximately twenty years of service.
She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents,
James & Nannie Witten McGuire. Born January 12, 1932 in Saltville, Va.
Survivors: husband, Cecil Carmichael of Clinton; son, Cecil A. Carmichael,
Jr. & wife, Jennifer of Clinton; grandchildren, Joshua, Jesse, Nathan, Miriam
& Caleb; sisters, Ethel & Senia of Calif. The family will receive friends 6-8
p.m. Friday February 2nd at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with
funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Chris Albright
officiating. Interment will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodhaven Memory
Gardens in Claxton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton in charge of all
arrangements.
CURTIN, LUCILLE GENEVIVE - age 82, of Norris, passed away Tuesday, January
30, 2001 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was a member of
St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norris. Preceded in death by husband, William
J. Overton; grandson, Michael D. Curtin. born May 27, 1918 in Nachua, New
Hampshire. Survivors: daughters, Mary Jane May & husband, Todd of Skaneatles,
NY, Kathleen Ann Anderson & husband, Tom of Sanford, NC; sons, William D.
Curtin & wife, Michelle of Wellsley, Mass., Thomas C. Curtin & wife, Mary of
North Kingstown, RH, Dennis T. Curtin & wife, Judy of Andersonville; 12
grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Rita LaTond of Mass., Julia
Riddick & husband, Murray of NH, Leola Nadworny & husband, Walter of Mass.
Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday February 3rd at St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Norris. Memorials may be made to the Michael Curtin
Scholarship Fund, c/o East Tennessee Foundation, 500 Main Street, Knoxville,
Tenn. 37902. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton is in charge of
arrangements.
DUNCAN, MARY MAUDE RUSSELL - age 89 of Clinton passed away Tuesday, January
30, 2001, at her residence. She enjoyed cooking, baking & sewing for her
family. She was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by parents, Horace &
Nancy Jane White Russell; daughter, Wilma Jones; sister, Jessie Gibbs;
brothers, Bill Russell, James Howard Russell, Joe Glen Russell, Harry Lee
Russell; son in law, Harry Lively. Born June 14, 1911 in Anderson County.
Survivors; daughter, Louella Lively of Clinton; son, Raymond Duncan & wife,
Erika "Rikki" of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren;
sisters, Georgia Kelley & Polly Vickery, both of Clinton, Mrs. Zella Stewart &
husband, John of Clermont, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. The family will
receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday February 1st, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home
in Clinton with funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the Chapel with Rev.
Luke Kidwell officiating. Interment will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Anderson
Memorial Gardens. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton in charge of all
arrangements.
HEMBREE, MAYNARD - age 95, of Jacksboro, passed away Wednesday, January 31,
2001, at the LaFollette Nursing Home. He was a member of East Jacksboro
Baptist Church, and also a member of Masonic Lodge #322 of Jacksboro and
Scottish Rites of Knoxville. Preceded in death by wife, Claudia Adams
Hembree; son, Hurshell Hembree; parents, Alec and Zadie Phillips Hembree;
five brothers, and one sister. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Gaynell
and Howard Hensley of Dayton, Ohio; sons and daughters, Lenville and Nancy
Hembree of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Carl and Dorothy Hembree of Clinton, Tenn.,
and Lawrence and Pat Hembree of Jacksboro; eight grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; sisters, Vina Pebley of Caryville, Thelma Queener of
Jacksboro; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and
friends. Funeral service and Masonic Service 8 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2001,
in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Byrge and Rev. Al
Byrd officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Saturday, February 3, in Campbell
Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-7:50 p.m. in the Chapel
of Martin Wilson Funeral Home. Martin Wilson Funeral Home, of LaFollette, in
charge of arrangements.
