CATE, MRS. ZORA - age 91, of N. Kingston Ave., Rockwood passed away
Wednesday in Roane Medical Center, Harriman. She was of the Baptist faith,
preceded in death by husband, James C. Cate, Jr. Survived by daughter, Melda
Brown and husband, Clay Ed of Rockwood; son, James Cate of Rockwood;
grandsons, Randall and Keith Brown of Rockwood; great-grandchildren, Aaron
and Olivia Brown; sisters, Lora Armourm of Kingston, Vera Johnson of
Rossville, Ga.; brother, James Bush of Knoxville. Funeral services will be
conducted Friday at 8 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Rev. Gary
Lynn officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday
morning at 11 a.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends
Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Evans Mortuary. Evans Mortuary, of Rockwood,
is serving the family of Mrs. Zora Cate.
SUMMEY, BRITTANY LAUREN - age 16, of Clinton, went to see Jesus on Tuesday,
February 13, 2001. She was a Sophomore at Clinton High School, where she was
on the Varsity Cheerleading Squad. Preceded in death by grandmother, Isabell
Summey. Born December 26, 1984, in Knox County. Survivors: parents, Darrell
and Stacey Summey of Claxton; brother, Bradley Darrell Summey of Claxton;
grandparents, John W. and Gladys Summey of Vonore, Tenn., and Paul and
Myrtle Mortez of Claxton; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of
friends. We will miss you deeply and will love you with all our hearts
forever. Interment will be held 11 a.m. Friday, at Grandview Memorial
Gardens in Clinton. Memorials may be made to Brittany Summey Scholarship
Fund, c/o Clinton High School, 425 Dragon Drive, Clinton, TN 37716.

SMIDDY, WILLIE, SR. - age 80, of LaFollette, passed away Wednesday, February
14, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. Member of
Stinking Creek Baptist Church, U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a retired coal
miner. Preceded in death by parents, Dewey and Belle Branam Smiddy;
brothers, Chester, Henry and John Smiddy and sister, Evelyn Lay. Survivors:
wife, Almedia Bolton Smiddy; sons and wives, Willie, Jr. and Mellisa Smiddy,
Roger and Evelyn Smiddy, David Smiddy, LaFollette, Eddie Smiddy, Teddy and
Alta Smiddy; daughter, Judy and husband, Steve Bridges; 7 grandchildren;
brothers, Charles, Paris, Luther and Franklin Smiddy; sisters, Azalee Henry
and Evelyn Ridenour. Funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday, February 17, at
Stinking Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Donald Shoun and Rev. Lonnie Kennedy
officiating. Interment Hall Cemetery, with military honors. The family will
receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 16, at Cross Funeral Home.
WRIGHT, FRANCES - age 69, of Harriman, passed away Wednesday, February 14,
2001, at U.T. Medical Center, Knoxville. A life long member of the First
Christian Church in Harriman, and retired from X-10 Plant, with 20 years of
service. Preceded in death by parents, Fred and Addie Johnson; brother,
Marion F. Johnson. Survivors: husband of 51 years, Joe C. Wright of
Harriman; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Mary Wright of Kingston;
sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and Clint Stinnett of Harriman; brother
and sister-in-law, Ray and Evelyn Johnson of Harriman; sister-in-law, Carrie
Mae Johnson of Wartburg; special cousin, Mary Botkin of Harriman; nieces,
Gail Hahn of Texas and Freddie Matsinger of Kingston; nephew, Jamie Johnson
of Harriman. Funeral service 8 p.m. Friday at Kyker Funeral Home Chapel,
Harriman, Minister John Wagnon officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Saturday at
Roane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday
at Kyker Funeral Home, Harriman. At the families request, memorial funds can
be made to First Christian Church Memorial Fund in Harriman, or to the
American Cancer Society.
