THOMAS LAY HUDSON Sr., 78, Oak Ridge, died at Methodist Medical Center of Oak
Ridge Friday, March 23, 2001.
Born Feb. 10, 1923, in Whitwell, Tenn., he was the son of Henry Edwin "H.E."
and Janie Lay Hudson.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Hudson came to Oak Ridge in 1950. He graduated from the University of
Tennessee at Knoxville.
He was retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems as an electrical engineer
with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He enjoyed traveling throughout the
United States and gardening, according to his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Ann Brown and husband, Larry of Oak
Ridge, and Nancy Pearson and husband, Steve, of Knoxville; one son, Thomas L.
Hudson, Jr., and wife, Carol, of Knoxville; eight grandchildren, Justin
Brown, of Oak Ridge, and Catherine, Thomas, Stephanie, and David Pearson, and
Andrew, Taylor, and Amy Hudson all of Knoxville.
He also is survived by two brothers, Ed D. Hudson and wife, Marjory of
Knoxville, and James R. Hudson and wife, Mattie Mae of Huntsville, Ala.; a
sister-in-law, Emma Ruth Farmer, of Athens, Ga.; a brother-in-law, Charles
Smith and wife, June of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, Ruth S. Hudson, and a brother, William E. Hudson, died earlier.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at
Covenant Presbyterian Church in Oak Ridge with the Rev. David Hall
officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the
service.
A private graveside service will be held Tuesday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the MMC Chaplain's Benevolence Fund, Methodist
Hospital Foundation, 990 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, Tn., 37830.
Weatherford Mortuary of Oak Ridge is in charge of the arrangements.

ELSIE MAE HUCKABY, 80, of Clinton, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Huckaby was born Nov. 8, 1920, in Anderson County, the daughter of
Melton and Mary Braden Patterson, who are deceased.
She was a member of North Clinton Missionary Baptist Church. Her family said
she enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.
She was the widow of LeRoy Huckaby.
Mrs. Huckaby is survived by her daughters, Josephine Martin, Imogene
Henderson and Cheastean Wilson and her husband, Kenneth G. Wilson, and Maxine
Wilson and her husband, Doug Wilson, all of Clinton, and Ruby Glenn and her
husband, Ray Glenn, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and her son, LeRoy Huckaby Jr.,
and his wife, Barbara, of Buford, Ga.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Debbie Fellers, Teresa Wilson,
Wendell Martin, Lisa Rhea, Regina Silvey, Greg Huckaby, John Pebley, Jason
Huckaby, Jennifer Pebley Bowling, B.J. Henderson, Katie Huckaby and David
Huckaby; her sister, Oma Phillips of Clinton; her sister-in-law, Grace
Scarbrough of Clinton; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, two sisters and two brothers died
earlier: Sally Ward, Kansas Phillips, Lewis Patterson and Tom Patterson.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, in the chapel of
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Jim Ault officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, March 26, at the funeral
home.

RUBY MCGINNIS STAIR, 57, of Clinton, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at NHC
HealthCare in Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Stair was a certified nursing assistant and formerly worked at Windwood
Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton. She attended Freeway Church of
God.
Born Jan. 21, 1944, in Knox County, she was the daughter of William and
Maggie O'Dell McGinnis, now both deceased.
Mrs. Stair is survived by her husband, Michael R. Stair; three sisters,
Dorothy Young of Andersonville, Marie McClain of Knoxville and Gracie
Thompson and her husband, Chuck, of Sharps Chapel; and two brothers, the Rev.
David McGinnis and his wife, Pat, of Andersonville, and William "Lee"
McGinnis and his wife, Shirley, of Knoxville.
She is also survived by her mother- and father-in-law, Robert and Alice Stair
of Clinton; and by several nieces and nephews.
Louella Ridenour was considered a special friend.
A brother and two sisters, R.L. McGinnis, Helen McGinnis and Pauline Breeden,
died earlier.
The funeral was held Sunday night, March 25, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in
Clinton. Pastor Bill Jackson officiated.
A graveside service was to be held at 2 this afternoon, March 26, at
Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton
