EDWARD A. GRACE Sr., 83, of Crossville, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at his
home.
Mr. Grace was the son of Ora Mae Seibert and George E. Grace. He was a United
States Navy veteran.
His family said he was a minister until he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Grace; his daughters, Donna Gardner and her
husband, George, of Oak Ridge, and Phyllis Bell and her husband, Don, of
Kentucky; his sons, Edward Grace Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, and Philip Grace
and his wife, Dorthy, all of Florida, David L. Grace of Crossville and the
Rev. Mike Grace and his wife, Marsha, of Spring City.
Mr. Grace is also survived by two brothers and a sister, Wallace Grace,
Harold Grace and Opal Adair, all of Kentucky; and by 17 grandchildren,
including the Rev. Eugene Grace, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Another son, the Rev. Robert E. Grace, died earlier.
Services were handled by Hood Funeral Home in Crossville.
Burial was to be today, June 17, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
FREDERICK ALBERT "Fred" LAPPELMANN Jr., 81, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday
morning, June 16, 2002, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
He was born March 25, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Frederick Albert
and Harriet Irene Rose Kappelmann. He was a United States Army veteran of
World War II. Mr. was a graduate of High Point College in High Point, N.C.
He retired in May 1985 after 41 years as a chemist in the Chemical Technology
Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Mr. Kappelmann was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He was a longtime member of the Oak Ridge Lions Club and had served as
president in 1972-1973. He had also been active with the East Tennessee
Seniors Golf Association for many years and had won one of the tournaments he
entered.
In earlier years, Mr. Kappelmann coached Little League baseball and
basketball. His family said he thoroughly enjoyed watching sports of all
kinds.
He is survived by his wife, T. Olyne Poindexter Kappelmann, with whom he
celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary last Oct. 14; his son, Frederick A.
Kappelmann III of Oak Ridge; his daughter, Linda Karen Satterwhite of
Goodlettsville; his brother, Arthur Kappelmann of Santa Barbara, Calif.; his
sister, Irene Krumin and her husband, Harry, of Hollywood, Fla.; three
grandchildren, Jeremy Hunter, Kyle Satterwhite and Kiersten Satterwhite, all
of Goodlettsville; and his niece and nephew, Debbie Krumin and Harold Krumin,
both of Hollywood, Fla.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at First United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Mooney and the Rev. Bob Cantrell Jr.
officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to a
charity of the donor's choice.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

WOODROW WILSON CHILCOAT, 87, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Chilcoat was born Dec. 8, 1914, in Winston County, Ala., the son of
Charles Walter and Ella Lovina Radford Chilcoat. He was a veteran of the
United States Navy and served as a fireman first class during World War II.
He had been a resident of Oak Ridge for 52 years and for 27 years, he worked
as a machinist foreman for Union Carbide Nuclear Division.
Mr. Chilcoat was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lou Seymour Chilcoat; his sons,
Terry Seymour Chilcoat and his wife, Judy, of Norris, Woody L. Chilcoat and
his wife, Sharon, of Roanoke, Va., and Charles M. Chilcoat and his wife,
Yvonne, of Medford, Ore.; and two grandchildren, Shannon M. Chilcoat of Oak
Ridge and Geoffrey Chilcoat of Jonesboro, Ga.
The funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Glenwood Baptist
Church with the Rev. Brian Walls officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at
Woodhaven Memory Gardens in Claxton.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

ENGRACIA TORREGOSA "Grace" GARCIA, 63, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, June 15,
2002, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville.
Born April 16, 1939, in Tarlac, Tarlac Province, in the Philippines, she was
the first daughter of Pelilia and Saturnino Torregosa. Her mother lives in
Clementon, N.J., and her father is deceased.
She was educated at the University of Santo Thomas at Manila in the
Philippines and received a bachelor of science degree in nursing in 1960.
She and her husband, Dr. Romulo G. Garcia, who survives her, were married in
1965. Her family said they had been happily married for the past 36 years.
Mrs. Garcia and her husband and three children, Roel, Imelda and Zerlina,
immigrated to the United States in 1969. Her youngest son, Ronald, was born
in Oak Ridge.
For 41 years, she worked as a registered nurse. Mrs. Garcia worked at Tarlac
Province Hospital in the Philippines, Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Chicago,
Ill., St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati,
Ohio, Mayfield Hospital in Mayfield, Ky., and, for the last 30 years, at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
According to her family Mrs. Garcia was a devout Catholic and was a member of
St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was active in Cursillo in the Philippines and
Marriage Encounter in Tennessee. She was also an active member of the
Philippine-American Association of East Tennessee and the Tennessee Nurses
Association.
In addition to her husband and her mother, she is survived by her daughters,
Imelda G. Margulies and her husband, Aaron, of Tracy, Calif., and Zerlina G.
Waldrop and her husband, James, of Lenoir City; and her sons, Roel T. Garcia
and Ronald T. Garcia, both of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Garcia is also survived by five brothers, Vicente Torregosa of Gadsden,
Ala., Jesus Torregosa and Nestor Torregosa, both of Houston, Texas, and
Potenciano Torregosa and Saturnino Torregosa Jr., both of Clementon, N.J.;
and three sisters, Eleanor T. Tiongson of Media, Pa., Milagros T. Bautista of
Phoenix, Ariz., and Magdalena T. Garcia of Cary, N.C.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Danielle Waldrop, Gabrel Waldrop,
Preston Waldrop, Mackenzie Garcia, Rachel Margulies and Benjamin Margulies;
three brothers-in-law, Jose Garcia of Batesville, Ind., Manuel Garcia of
Hernando, Fla., and Alejo Garcia of Cary; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by a
sister-in-law, Thelma Manauis of the Philippines.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at St. Mary's
Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to St.
Mary's Residential Hospice, 744 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at St.
Mary's Church.

STEVEN MICHAEL ASBURY, 46, of Alcoa, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at Grand
Strand Memorial Hospital in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Mr. Asbury was a graduate of Alcoa High School and the University of
Tennessee. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Alcoa.
He was employed in security for the Department of Energy on the Oak Ridge
Reservation.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy R. Asbury; two daughters, April Payne and
her husband, Sam, and Brandy Whitehead and her husband, Jeff, all of Alcoa;
and his grandchildren, Blake Payne, Zoe Payne, Grace Whitehead and Abby
Whitehead, also all of Alcoa.
Mr. Asbury is also survived by his parents, William D. and June Asbury of
Alcoa; two brothers, Jim Asbury of Alcoa and Scott Asbury and his wife,
Mamie, of Atlanta, Ga.; four nephews, Jesse Asbury and Jeremy Asbury, both of
Maryville, and Gus Asbury and Wyatt Asbury, both of Atlanta; and three aunts,
Marjorie Walters, Mary Lee Butler and Johnnye Fitzgerald, all of Knoxville.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at
Marietta Church Cemetery in the Hardin Valley community of West Knoxville.
The Rev. Joe Green will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, June 17, at
McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville.
CAROLYN ANN KISER HANLEY, 57, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at
her home with her family at her side.
She was born Aug. 6, 1944, in Sevierville.
Mrs. Hanley was employed with J.C. Penney Co. and retired in 1998.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Her family said she loved
fishing, camping and spending time with her friends, family and especially
her three grandsons.
Mrs. Hanley is survived by her husband of 41 years, Don Hanley; her
daughters, Debora Newman and her husband, Tippy, of Lenoir City, and Donna
Lee Bingham and her husband, Tim, of Clinton; and her grandsons, Bradlee, age
13, Nathan, age 9, and Cory, age 7.
She is also survived by her father, Tilford Leonard Kiser of Oak Ridge; her
brother, Bud Kiser and his wife, Billie, of Madisonville; her nieces, Marilyn
Kiser and Cheryl Kiser, both of Cedartown, Ga.; her brothers-in-law, Jim
Hanley and his wife, Della, Jerry Hanley and his wife, Sue, and Tommy Hanley
and his wife, Carolyn, all of Knoxville, and Larry Leach of Kingston and
nephew, Tony Leach, of Knoxville; her sisters-in-law, Pat Dowdy and her
husband, Dave, of Knoxville and Peggy Wooliver of Jefferson County; and by
several aunts, uncles and other nieces and nephews.
Lyle, Edna and Mary Ballard and Lucy and George Cagley are considered very
special and dear friends of the Hanley family.
Mrs. Hanley's mother, Stella Kiser, died Nov. 11, 2001.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, in the chapel of
Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Steve McDonald officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Oak
Ridge Memorial Park.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to Adventa

BRETT GATES, 35, of Knox County's Solway community, died Friday, June 14,
2002, in Knoxville.
Mr. Gates is survived by his grandmother, Georgia Bridges of Clinton; his
aunts, Joyce Littleton of Dayton, Ohio, Faye Grantham of Clinton and Phyllis
Davis of Asheville, N.C.; and his uncles, Jake Bridges and Gene Bridges, both
of Clinton.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, in the chapel at
Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Jeff Daniels officiating.
ESTER KOONTZ LIVENGOOD of Clinton died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Livengood was a member of First Baptist Church in Clinton. She was
active in the church's Philathea Sunday School Class and a member of the XYZ
senior adult group.
She held a master's degree in education from Columbia University in New York,
N.Y. Mrs. Livengood was a retired teacher from the University of Tennessee at
Martin.
She is survived by her husband, Hal Livengood; her daughter, Sherry Livengood
of Clinton; her sister, Ruth Schmidt of Chattanooga; her brother, Jonathan
Wade Koontz of Lake Worth, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Garland and Lucy Crissman Koontz, are deceased.
The funeral was held Saturday, June 15, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Terry Baker and the Rev. Paul Frick
officiating.
Burial followed at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton.
LEONARD HACKER of Oliver Springs died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

BETTY JANE JOHNSON, 71, of Oak Ridge, died this morning, June 17, 2002, at
her home.
