Hi Jim Wallace,
there is so much confussion with some of our ancestors
last name because some chose to spell it different and
then some of it was the fault of Clerks of Courts and
Census Takers.
I have members of the same families that spell their
names one way while the other spells it the other,
such as:
Disney/Dizney, Burris/Burress, Johnson/Johnston,
Foust/Faust/Fouse, Bird/Byrd, Pyles/Piles, Byrge/Burge
Cornett/Cornitt/Curnutt, Atkins/Adkins.
I guess the VOWELL rules messed some of them up and I
am supprised that some of my cousins ddin't spell
their names A-E-I-O-U-Y (especially the Vowell side
:)!!
