What I noticed was that the census folk often put the names down phoenetically--for instance, with "Foust", a lot of the older
folk pronounced it "Fouse" and I'd guess that's how it ended up spelled that way. One of my relatives was a Kelly Foust, but
for years I thought it was "Cal" b/c that's how his name was pronounced. It's neat to get a clue into the accents. Thanks for
sharing some of the variants in spellings--it's a good reminder to check in several places.
