Annie Jo Turpin, 91, of the Orchard View community near Oliver Springs,

Annie Jo Turpin, 91, of the Orchard View community near Oliver Springs, died
Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Born May 17, 1912, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of Samuel Wallace
and Mattie Manuel Wallace, both now deceased.
She was a former resident of the Wheat community and lived in this area her
whole life. She was a homemaker and a member of Orchard View Baptist Church.
She won numerous medals in the senior games. Her family said she had years of
dedicated service to the Senior Center and Council on Aging. She was also a
charter member of the Orchard View Quilters group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles
C. Turpin; three daughters, Betty Jo Turpin, Ida Francis Pride and Mona Faye
Turpin; and by a son, Roy Allen Turpin.
Mrs. Turpin is survived by two daughters, Sarah Kathryn Turpin and Martha
Alice Turpin, both of Oliver Springs; three sons, Clarence Edward Turpin of
Kingston, Herbert Lee Turpin and wife, Yoshiko, of Woodlawn, and Charles Calvin
Turpin Jr. and wife, Janie, of Harriman; four grandchildren, Steve Pride, Michael
Pride, Janie Sue Burris and Charles C. Turpin III; and by a great-grandson,
Dustin M. Pierce.
She is also survived by a sister, Bessie Strange of Knoxville; two brothers,
Bill Wallace and wife, Jean, of Smithville, and Kenneth Wallace and wife,
Irene, of Knoxville; a sister-in-law, Hazel Wallace, of Knoxville; and by several
nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, at Orchard View Baptist
Church near Oliver Springs. The body will be at the church Friday from 1 to 2
p.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sharp
Funeral Home in Oliver Springs.

Kathie Dozier, 45, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements, which were incomplete at
press time.
