LESTER, ROSE ELIZABETH WILCOX - age 65 of Oak Ridge, formerly of Lenoir City,
passed away Tuesday morning, July 15, 2003 at the Oak Ridge Methodist Medical
Center. Rose was born and raised in Lenoir City and was a former employee of
the Ford Motor Company in Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents,
Martha and Bill Wilcox; brothers, James and Taft Wilcox. She is survived by
her husband, Jerry Lester; four sons, David Lester of Holt, Missouri, Richard
Lester of Oak Ridge, Mark Lester of Clinton and Jason Lester of Corryton; 12
grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; brothers, Bill Wilcox, Bob Wilcox and Ralph
Wilcox; sisters, Areta Roberts, Ethel Snodgrass and Stella Johnson; many
nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 p.m. Thursday with
funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Rick Lambert officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Friday
at the Woodlawn Cemetery for graveside services and interment. Click Funeral

McCORMICK, JOHN KELLY - age 82, of 1196 Bruce Gap Road, Caryville, passed
away Sunday, July 13, 2003, at the U. T. Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a
member of the Cumberland View Baptist Church. Mr. McCormick was a coalminer for
34 years. He was preceded in death by parents, Steven and Maggie Brady
McCormick; brothers, Henry and Steve Douglas McCormick; sisters, Ruthy McCormick and
Mary Mae Fradey. Mr. McCormick is survived by wife of 61 years, Selah
McCormick of Caryville; sons and daughters-in-law, Willard and Charlotte McCormick of
Sparta, Tenn., Kenneth and Patsy McCormick of Jacksboro; daughters and
sons-in-law, Betty and Delmer Lindsey of Jacksboro, Peggy and Don Lawson and Nancy
and Allen Bowman, all of Caryville; 16 grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Walker of Rockwood, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews,
and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m.
Thursday, July 17, in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Ray
Wilson and Rev. Derrick Hembree officiating. Interment will follow in
Cumberland View Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Campbell County
Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at
Martin Wilson Funeral Home. Martin Wilson Funeral Home, is in charge of the
arrangements.

SAXTON, RICHARD ERWIN - devoted husband and father, of Clinton, TN, left this
life July 13, 2003, after a lengthy illness. He was born February 12, 1934,
to parents Elijah D. and Bertha Freehafer Saxton in Flint, Michigan. He was
preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Shirley Cate Saxton
and mother-in-law, Billie Mae Cate of the home; sister June B. Wiers of Flint,
MI; sister and brother-in-law Cheryl and Jack Carroll of Clarksville, TN.;
sons and daughters-in-law, Terry Wayne and Tammy Saxton of Chattanooga, Patrick
and Karen Hill of Lake City, Michael and Cynthia Hill of Clinton; daughter
Angela M. Saxton of Albuquerque, NM; daughters and sons-in-law Jacquelyn K. and
Lewis Seiber of Oliver Springs; Vicki C. and Kevin Brown of Knoxville;
daughter, Cathryn L. Norton of Knoxville; grandchildren Heather Saxton, Fayetteville,
NC, Kelly and Kayla Saxton of Chattanooga; Kenan and Ian Saxton, Albuquerque;
Jarod L. Correll, Oak Ridge; Deanna Ely, Zachary Brown, Tristin Brown, and
Nathan Brown, Knoxville; Sara Hill, Clinton; Steve Hill, Lake City, Emily Hill,
Clinton; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service is scheduled for
Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Second Baptist Church, 901 Fowler Street, Clinton,
TN, with Dusty Irwin officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at
6:00 p.m. followed by the service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in Mr.
Saxton's name to the Knox Area Rescue Ministries, P. O. Box 3352, Knoxville, TN

SWENSON, JOHN W. - age 92, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2003 at
the Methodist Medical Center. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church
in Clinton. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran who served during World
War II. After retiring from the United States Government, he enjoyed spending
time writing humorous fiction. He was also an avid gardener. He also taught
himself to speak several foreign languages very fluently, including French &
Spanish. John's life will live on through his family, leaving a legacy of
kindheartedness and his love of learning & teaching. Preceded in death by wife,
Helen Swenson; parents, Oscar & Lillian Swenson. He was born November 5, 1910 in
Harvey, North Dakota. Survivors: daughters, Theresa Bean & husband, John Thomas
of Norris, Mary Jo Giles & husband, John Michael of Plano, TX; grandchildren,
Katie Bean & Michael Bean of Norris, Erin Marie Giles of Littleton, CO,
Andrew Giles & Chrissy Giles of Plano, TX; special cousin, Shirley Peterson of
Butterfield, Minnesota; special friends, Margaret & Tommy Thoennes & family of
Bloomington, Illinois; special friends at Morning Pointe, Mary Miller, Kathryne
Cobb, Richard Hahn and Virginia Long. Wake will be held 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.,
Thursday, July 17, 2003 at Holley- Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral Mass
will be held 9:00 am, Friday at St. Therese Catholic Church in Clinton with
Father Gerard Finucane presiding. Interment will follow the Mass at 11:30 am, with
full military honors being conducted at gravesite by the Campbell County Honor
Guard. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton in charge of all arrangements.

WILLIAMS, ROGER STEPHEN - age 56, born April 15, 1947, and passed away
suddenly Sunday, July 13, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Preceded
in death by parents, John H. and Vivian Mae Williams; aunt, Nannie Mae Rash.
Survived by wife of 34 years, Monna L. Williams; step daughter, Rebecca Anderson
and Roger Ferguson of Blaine; step grandson and wife, Mikie and Kelly
Anderson of Louisville, Ky.; four step grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law,
Ronald D. and Alma Williams of Heiskell and Maurice and Brenda Williams of
Powell; two nephews and three nieces; step mother, Wilma Dean Williams. The family
will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Weaver's Chapel with the service to
follow at 8 p.m. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 p.m. Thursday at Oak
Ridge Memorial Park for a 1 p.m. graveside service. Arrangements by Weaver
