Date: Mon, 22 Jun 1998 09:54:04 -0400

Hello researchers,

The following information will be of interest to anyone planning a research
trip to Knoxville during the July 4th weekend. With the July 4 holiday
falling on a Saturday, this year's holiday schedule at the East Tennessee
Historical Center can get confusing. We post this information in hopes
that you will be able to enjoy a productive visit during your planned
research trips to Knoxville and not find yourself locked outside of a
closed building.

On Friday, July 3, the following offices and/or facilities in the East
Tennessee Historical Center will be *closed*: The McClung Historical
Collection, the Knox County Archives, and the Tennessee Society-Sons of the
Revolution.

The following offices and/or facilities will be *open* on Friday, July 3:
The East Tennessee Historical Society and the East Tennessee Historical
Society Museum. However, those wishing to visit the ETHS offices will need
to enter from the museum entrance (Market Street) on that day.

On Saturday, July 4, the McClung Historical Collection will be *closed* for
the July 4 holiday and will resume normal Saturday hours on July 11. The
Knox County Archives, the Tennessee Society-Sons of the Revolution and the
East Tennessee Historical Society offices will also be closed that day in
keeping with their regular scheduled hours.

The East Tennessee Historical Society Museum will be *open* on Saturday,
July 4, for its normal operating hours of 10 am-4 pm.

On Sunday, July 5, the McClung Historical Collection re-opens on its normal
operating schedule of 1-5 pm. The East Tennessee Historical Society Museum
also will operate on its normal Sunday schedule (1-5 pm) on July 5. The
Knox County Archives, Tennessee Society-Sons of the Revolution, and the
offices of the East Tennessee Historical Society will be closed as
regularly scheduled on Sunday.

We hope this information is helpful to you during the upcoming holiday.

Information about holiday schedules at the East Tennessee Historical Center
is posted regularly on the ETHS web pages at
http://www.korrnet.org/eths/info.htm

Whether planning a visit to the East Tennessee Historical Center or any
other research location, it is always wise to call in advance to learn if
normal operating hours will be observed during your planned visit.

Sincerely,
