BRANDENBURG, NEAL RAY - 39, of Jacksboro, Tenn., died July 12, 1999. Dear son
of Delmas Brandenburg and Shirley (nee Perkins) Brandenburg, both of
Jacksboro, Tenn. Loving father of Page Marie Brandenburg. Caring brother of
Jerry Brandenburg of Goshen, Ohio. Friends received on Thursday, July 15,
1999, from 5-8 p.m. at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 1668 St.
Rt. 28, Goshen, OH 45122, where services were held on Friday at 10 a.m. at
the Goshen Church of God, 1675 Hill Station Rd., Goshen, OH 45122. Interment
Myers Cemetery, Goshen, Ohio.

CHADWELL, JAMES ARTHUR "BUD" - age 80, of LaFollette, passed away Tuesday,
July 20, 1999, at UT Medical Center. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No.
623 Scottish Rite Temple and Kerbela Shrine Temple. He was retired from the
United States Special Forces of the Army. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Eslick and Salley Chadwell; brother, L.D. Chadwell; sisters, Clara
Bowman and Cleo Andrews. Survivors include son, Jim Chadwell of Caryville,
Tenn.; brothers, Norris Chadwell of Orin, Mich. and Mildred Chadwell of
LaFollette; sisters, Wanda Davidson of Pontiac, Mich., Janie Wilson of Oak
Ridge, Geraldine Miller of LaFollette, Yvonne Faulkner of Knoxville, Shirley
Claiborne of LaFollette, Joyce Walden of LaFollette; and beloved sister, Mini
Belle Longmire of LaFollette; two grandsons, Jamey Chadwell and Jonathan
Chadwell; one granddaughter, Kim Chadwell; several nieces and nephews. The
family will receive friends Friday, July 23rd, at Cedar Hill Baptist Church
from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. Graveside service will be
Saturday 24th, 11 a.m. at Bakers Forge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the
family has requested donations be made to Cedar Hill Baptist Church Building
Fund. Roach Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

COX, JACOB CHARLES, JR. - age 71, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of
Fairview Community in Anderson County, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at
his residence. He was born February 5, 1919, in Anderson County, Tenn. He
attended Fairview Freewill Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by
parents, Jacob Charles, Sr. and Verna Lewis Cox. Survivors: daughter, Sue and
husband, John Johnson, Chesapeake, Va.; son, Jacob C. III and wife, Veronica
Cox, Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren, Jacob C. Cox IV, Elizabeth Cox,
Ashley Cox, Meghan Rickman; sister, Irene Brock, Wisconsin; brother, Claude
Cox, Virginia Beach, Va., Samuel Cox, Dallas, Texas, Frank Cox, Heiskell.
Graveside service will be held Friday, July 23, 1999, at 10 a.m. at Fairview
Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Glenn Hall officiating will full
military honors

ERICKSON, KAREN ANN IRWIN - age 43, of Knoxville, died Sunday, July 18th, as
a result of an automobile accident near her residence. A member of
Andersonville United Methodist Church, she was a graduate of the University
of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She was preceded in death
by grandparents, Glenn and Ruth Irwin of Glen Alpine, and maternal
grandparents, Ethel Giles and Ben McDaniel of Kingsport. Survivors include
her parents, John Rice and Elizabeth Irwin; sister, Elaine Irwin Meyer and
her husband, Ed Meyer; niece, Lindsey Meyer; nephews, John and Will Meyer,
all of the Norris area; Uncle David R. Irwin and wife, Carolyn of Glen
Alpine; cousins, Rob Irwin of Andersonville and Ann Irwin Buhl of Boulder,
Colo. The family will receive friends at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in
Clinton, Thursday, July 22nd from 6-8:30 p.m. with the funeral service
following at 8:30 p.m. The Rev. George Buchanan and Rev. Ken Abbott will
officiate. Burial will be Friday, July 23rd, at 11 a.m. in Norris Memorial
Gardens adjacent to the Museum of Appalachia in Norris. Memorials may be made
to the Knox County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of arrangements.

MELVIN, CLARA ELSIE - 96, of Clinton, Tenn., died Monday, July 19, 1999, at
the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, Tenn. Mrs. Melvin was born in St.
Louis, Mo., on April 17, 1903. She was the widow of James Edison Melvin, a
retired officer in the US Coast Guard who died in 1976. Mrs. Melvin had
resided at the Windwood Nursing Home in Clinton for the past two years. Prior
to that, she resided in Seashore Manor Retirement Center in Biloxi, Miss. for
about 20 years. Special friends there include Madge Howell and Inez Hobart.
Mrs. Melvin is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Harry Duley of
Powell, Tenn.; a daughter, Florence Firestine of Biloxi, Miss. died in 1997.
She is also survived by granddaughters, Linda Fowler of Clinton, Tenn. and
Joyce Armstrong of Soldotna, Alaska; grandsons, Ken Duley and wife, Carla of
White House, Tenn. and Jimmy Firestine and wife, Linda of Lake City, Fla. She
is survived by eight great-grandchildren, Thomas, Samuel and Jeff Fowler of
Clinton and Ian and Keah Duley of White House, Tenn.; several
great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Melvin enjoyed traveling with her husband,
who was in the military for 30 years. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and
playing cards. The family will receive friends at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home
in Clinton on Friday, July 23, from 6-7 p.m. and a short memorial service at
Holley-Gamble Chapel will follow. Mrs. Melvin will be buried at the Biloxi
National Cemetery in Mississippi on Monday, July 26, 1999. Because of
out-of-state burial, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials
be made to a favorite charity. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Clinton, in
charge.
