RICHMOND, JOHN MICHAEL - age 48 of Norris, Tenn. passed away Sunday at John
S. Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He was of the Catholic faith. He
was a graduate of UT where he received a masters Degree & St. Mary's School
of Nursing. He was a private nursing practitioner & stock broker. Preceded in
death by mother, Geneviene Clifford Richmond. Survived by wife, Kathy
Ratchford of Norris; father, Frank C. Richmond of Knoxville; and brother,
Patrick Richmond of Knoxville. Family & friends will leave Rose Mortuary
Broadway Chapel Friday at 9:45 a.m. and proceed to Calvary Cemetery for a 10
a.m. graveside service with Father Xavier Mankel officiating. In lieu of
flowers memorials can be made to the InterFaith Health Clinic, 315 Gill
Avenue Knoxville, Tenn. 37917. Family & friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday with Scripture Reading at 7
p.m. at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
STARNES, WALTER "SARGE" HATFIELD SR. - age 71, of Oak Ridge, passed away
peacefully Tuesday May 2, 2000, at home with his family by his side. He was a
devoted member of Solway Baptist Church for over 27 years. He retired from
McGhee Tyson Air National Guard, then went to work at Oak Ridge Mall as a
security guard. He worked there until his illness. Born March 12, 1929 in
Balfour, NC. Preceded in death by parents, James Bartley & Mary Louise Serber
Starnes. Survivors: wife, Nona Webber Starnes of Oak Ridge; children, Walter
H. "Skip" Starnes, Jr. of Oak Ridge, Betty & Jack Shelton of Karns, William
"Bill" & Julie Starnes of Claxton, Connie Taylor of Oak Ridge, Ronnie Starnes
of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Walter H. "Dusty" Starnes, III, Ashley Phillips,
Rachel "Juju" Adkins, Brian Lindholm, Kelly Lindholm, Michelle Starnes,
Tabitha "Tabby" Starnes, Sonya Starnes, Ronald "Bubba" Starnes; great
grandson, Dalton West; sisters, Joann Dripps of Oak Ridge, Gertrude Fair of
Oliver Springs, Doris & Al Rogers of Charleston, SC; several nieces &
nephews. All his friends were special to him but his most special friends
were Chris & Ema Norman of Claxton and his brother-in-law, Carroll Jones of
Denmark, SC. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday May 4, 2000,
at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with funeral service following at 8
p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Ray Buchanan officiating. Interment will be held
10 a.m. Friday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in
charge of all arrangements.
