LOYD, GEORGE LAXTON, SR. - age 73 of Clinton passed away Friday, May 12, 2000
at his residence. He was retired from Rrogers Group in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He is
preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Wylordene Loyd; parents, Grady and
Evelyn Champion Loyd. Survivors include: sons, George Jr. "Pete" and wife,
Wanda Loyd of Clinton, Thomas and wife, Cheryl Loyd of Clinton;
grandchildren, Brian Loyd, Jeffery Scott Loyd, Tonya Loyd, Jason Loyd; great
grandchildren, Krissie Loyd, Robbie Loyd; sisters, Wand Pitts of Lake City,
Barbara and husband, Jimmy Price of Clinton, Plloy and Gary Elliott of
Clinton; brothers, Arthur and wife, Mary Loyd of Clinton, Sam and wife Joyce
Loyd of Clinton; several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be 11
a.m. Monday May 15, 2000 at McCarty Woodhaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev.
Chris Thomas officiating. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday at
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, Tenn.

MAY, WILLIE BURRESS - age 88, of Huntwood Lane, Knoxville, formerly of
Clinton passed away Friday at St. Mary's Hospice Center. Mrs. Burress worked
for many yrs. at former Magnet Mills in Clinton and retired from Clinton Drug
Store. Preceded in death by her parents, "Z. and Laura Burress"; and brother,
"Nelson Burress"; and sisters, "Margaret Burress, Pat Burress, Pearl Dagley,
and Tennie Burress"; and a great grandson, "Byron Patrick May". Member of
Clinton First Bapt. Church. Survivors: son, Robert "Leon" and his wife,
Beatrice May of Knoxville; grandchildren, Marty May, Rocky May, Elizabeth
Buck, Sandy Arnwine, Randy Arnwine, and Cheryle Poole; great grandchildren,
Michael, Jessica, Melissa, Amber, Marcus, Kasie, and Chris; sisters, Mary and
her husband, Oscar Jones of Clinton, Louise and her husband, William
Singleton of Clinton; brother, Hall and his wife, Helen Burress of Clinton;
several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 8:45 p.m. Sunday Holley-Gamble
Chapel Rev. Sam Dean officiating. Interment: 10 a.m. Monday at Farmers Grove
Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice Society. Family will
receive friends 7-8:45 p.m. Sunday Holley-Gamble Funeral Home.

PIERCE, FLORENCE ELLEN - age 79 of Oak Ridge, passed away Saturday May 13,
2000 at NHC Health Care of Oak Ridge. She was a member of the Church of
Christ faith. Preceded in death by husband, Arthur pierce; parents, David &
Maggie Isaacs and 2 sisters and 4 brothers. She was a retired employee of the
A&P Tea Company having worked in both Knoxville and Oak Ridge. Survived by
daughters & sons in law, Lucy & George Cagley of Oak Ridge and Carolyn & Ron
Seagle of Knoxville; grandchildren, Ron & Becky Seagle of Illinois, Jeff &
Susan Seagle, Steve & Cathy Seagle, Scott & Stephanie Seagle and Susan & Gary
Felpel all of Knoxville; Tracy & Vickie Parker and Mitch & Tammy Parker of
Clinton; Jeff Cagley of Sardis, Miss., Joe Cagley, Tina McGhee, Marianne
Powers and Angela Kelley all of Coalfield, Tenn.; 17 great grandchildren;
sister, Mary Hart of Cottonwood, Ariz.; brother, Walter Isaacs of
Elizabethton, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 8 p.m.
Monday Mynatt's Chapel. Minister Tim Forelines officiating. Family and
friends will meet at Oak Ridge Memorial Park 11 a.m. Tuesday for an interment
service. Family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at Mynatt's.

SHARP, MRS. JEWELL P. - age 75 of LaFollette, passed away Friday at St.
Mary's Medical Center, Knoxville. She was preceded in death by husband,
Robert Estes Sharp in November 1998, her parents, Robert Parrott and Mary
Pennington Parrott and by best friend, Alma Gray, Beloved sister in law,
Ethel Woodson. She was a member of the LaFollette First Baptist Church, Order
of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. Survivors: son, Robert E.
(Bob) Sharp, Jr. of Knoxville; daughters, Sherry Bull, of Machipongo, Va. and
Mary Dee Bruce of LaFollette; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren;
sisters, Janice Parrott of LaFollette, and Joy Spiegel of Bristol, Tenn.;
several nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives and friends. Funeral
services Monday, 5 p.m. at LaFollette First Baptist Church. Interment
Campbell Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Monday
before services at LaFollette First Baptist Church. Family requests that in
lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 600 Henley
Street, Knoxville, Tenn. 37902, or the Shriner's Crippled Children's Fund,
c/o Glenn Day, 312 Weirwood Dr. Jacksboro, Tenn. 37757. Walters Funeral Home,
LaFollette in charge of arrangements.

STAIR, PHOEBE PARALEE - age 98 of Lake City passed away Saturday may 13,
2000, at Winwood Health Care Center in Clinton. She was the oldest member of
First Baptist Church of Lake City where she taught Sunday school for many
years. Preceded in death by husband, John D. stair; parents, William & Nancy
Gilliam; brothers, Charles Gilliam and Floyd Gilliam; sisters, Elizabeth
Ault, Ella Brummitt, Lona Horton, and Mia Leinart. Survivors: son, William
Kenneth and wife, Merle Stair of Knoxville; daughters, Winifred Martin of
Northfolk, Va., Sue and husband Louis Hardin of Nashville, Johnnie L. and
husband, Paul Riddle of Knoxville; grandchildren, James Kenneth Martin of
Colorado Springs, Colo., Laura Grace of Marietta, Ga., Susan Clabough of
Knoxville, Peter J. Stair of Knoxville, Edwina Titus of Richmond, Va., Steven
Young of Nashville, Linda Pollock of Lilburn, Ga., Cindy Young of Marietta,
Ga.; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City. Graveside service will be Monday May
15, 2000 at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton with the Rev. Fred West Jr.
officiating. Any donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Lake
City 210 Pearl St. Lake City, Tenn. 37769.
