CHAMBERS, GALEN D. - passed away peacefully at age 86 at the Briarcliff
Health Care Center in Oak Ridge, July 2, 2000 and was cremated July 3. Born
in Scott County to Dr. D.T. and Artie Mincey Byrd Chambers, he was the
brother to Clovis T. Chambers and Janice Chambers Bible. A true mountain man,
he retired a successful merchant and cattleman. His long marriage to Louise
Bailey Chambers fathered Donald B. Chambers, Brenda Gail Chambers Daugherty,
and Diana Sue Chambers Cox. He was a member of the Jacksboro Masonic Lodge,
and a decorated "Flying Tiger" veteran of WWII. He will be laid to rest
beside his beloved wife at a graveside memorial service, August 12th at 3
p.m., at the Campbell Memorial Cemetery, LaFollette. Memorials, in lieu of
flowers, are requested to be made in his honor to the Norma Baptist Church,
Route #2, Huntsville, Tenn., 37756. Arrangements by Weatherford Mortuary, Oak
Ridge.

DAWKINS, CAROL DEAN - age 94 of Ormond Beach, Fla. formerly of Norris, passed
away 4:15 a.m. Wed., July 5, 2000. She was a graduate of the Louisville
Conservatory of Music and went to Virginia College and enjoyed playing the
piano. She was a member of the D.A.R. and First Presbyterian Church,
Anniston, Ala. Preceded in death by grandparents, Finis Ewing and Annie
Russell Galbraith of Concord; husband, Clinton Ormsby Dawkins, Louisville,
Ky. Survivors: daughter, Doris Dean Smyth of Fla.; grandchildren, Barbara
Dawkins, Maynardville, Charlotte Cummings, Miami, Fla., Alicia Collins, James
and Charles Campbell, Ormond Beach, Fla.; four great grandsons. Family and
friends will assemble at 10:45 a.m. Fri. for interment 11 a.m. Fri. at
Concord Masonic Lodge Cemetery. Music will be provided by Deborah Smith.
Cooke Mortuary Maynardville, in charge.

DAVIS, MORRIS WENDELL - age 77, formerly of Briceville, Tenn. in Lake City
area, passed away Sat. at UT Medical Center. Veteran of U.S. Navy during
World War II. Preceded in death by his parents, David and Lutie Davis;
brothers, Edwin Davis, Phillip Davis, and Roger Davis. Survivors: sisters,
Mary and her husband, J.D. Seiber of Griffith, Indiana, Margaret Hobbs, of
Knoxville, Deanna Davis of Munster, Indiana; brother, David Vernon and his
wife, Eleanor Davis of Chincoteague, VA; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Mon. morning July 3rd at Leach Cemetery in
Lake City, Tenn. Arrangements by Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Lake City, Tenn.

WHITEHOUSE, MARY JO HACKNEY, - 74 of Oak Ridge died Wed., July 5, 2000 at the
Methodist Medical Center. She was born May 22, 1926 in Detroit, MI to parents
Joseph and Mary Elton Siler Hackney. Retired secretary from Martin Marietta
Energy Systems/K-25. Member of Robertsville Bapt. Church. Preceded in death
by husband, Wallace W. Whitehouse, 11-11-1973. She is survived by: sons,
Ronald W. Whitehouse & wife Ellen of Coalfield, Richard Whitehouse of
Navarre, Fla.; grandsons, Robert Whitehouse & wife Stephanie of Knoxville,
Wallace (Jimy) Whitehouse of Coalfield; sister, Virginia Spurlin of
Riceville, Tenn.; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Ken & Peggy Whitehouse of
Harriman; several nieces and nephews; also survived by special friends, Wilma
Walker of Oak Ridge and Faye Yackel of Knoxville. Funeral services are Fri.,
July 7, 2000 at 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. John Shaw
officiating. Graveside services are Sat., July 8, 2000 at 11:30 a.m. at Oak
Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Fri. from 6- 8 p.m.
at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
