BAIRD, HOMER, - age 79, of LaFollette, died Wednesday, July 12, at Lake City
Health Care Center in Lake City. He was preceded in death by wife, Ollie Mae
Baird; daughter, Rosetta Baird; parents, Jim and Pearl Baird; brothers, Clyde
and Lester Baird; and sister, Edith Ayers. Survivors: son, Ennis Baird of
LaFollette; brother, Ernest Baird of Somerset, Kentucky; step-son, Ralph
Helmer; and step-daughter, Susie Hudson both of Brooksville, Ohio; two
grandchildren; and one great grand daughter; two step-grandsons; special
friend, Joni Goslin; and special niece Shirley Henry. Funeral services 8 p.m.
Friday, July 14, at Cross Chapel. Rev. Pat Ayers and Rev. Delmus Bruce
officiating. Interment 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at Campbell Memorial
Gardens. The family will receive friends 6 til 8 p.m. prior to services
Friday. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home.
COLLINS, MABLE J., - age 78, of the Claxton community, of Clinton, passed
away Thursday, July 13, 2000, at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville. She was
a member of Riverview Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, William
M. Collins; parents, William O. Evans & Bessie Phillip Evans. Born August 29,
1921 in Tate Springs, Tennessee. Survivors: daughters, Bessie Davis of Oak
Ridge, Judy Sweat & husband, Eddie of Powell, Mary Holcomb & husband, Brady
of Lenoir City, Martha Watson & husband, David of Powell, Susan Keever &
husband, Merle of Oak Ridge; sons, Bill Collins & wife, Marilyn of Knoxville,
David Collins & wife, Vicki of Martinez, Ga., Steve Collins & wife, Doraene
of Weston, Fla., Michael Collins & wife, Tracy of Simpsonville, S.C.;
grandchildren, Michael, Donna, Paul, Todd, James, Terry, Christie, Ell,
Elliot, Eldon, Ellis, Erica, Carrie, Andy, Ashley, Forrest, Mallory, Kasey,

Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with
funeral service following at 8:00 p.m., in the chapel with Rev. Moss Beets
officiating. Family & friends will meet at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 16th, at
Riverview Baptist Church Cemetery for graveside service. Memorials may be
made to Farmers Grove Baptist Church, 133 Farmers Grove Lane, Clinton,
Tennessee 37716. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton in charge of all
arrangements.
HICKS, CARL, - age 52, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at
Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He enjoyed fishing and spending time
with his grandchildren. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor as
O.R.A.U. for over fifteen years. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in
death by father, Roy E. Hicks; sister, Wilma Raines. Born February 6, 1948 in
Anderson County, Tennessee. Survivors: wife, Parlee A. Hicks of Clinton;
sons, Edward & Janet Hicks of Clinton, James & Frances Hicks of Clinton;
mother, Ellie D. Hicks of Clinton; grandchildren, Melissa, Tina, Amanda &
Ellie Hicks, Brittany & Tracy Larson, Katie Braden; sisters, Norma Jean
Harness of Clinton, Pamela D. Lee of Clinton; mother-in-law, Parlie B.
Kidwell of Clinton; brothers-in-law, George Canady of Karns, Carl Smith of
Clinton, Ray Smith of Baltimore, Maryland; sisters-in-law, Lillie Canaday of
Karns, Jolene Jones of Clinton; several aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews;

Clinton with funeral service following at 8:00 p.m., in the chapel with Rev.
Bill Dawson & Rev. Dan Kirby officiating. Interment will be held 1:00 p.m.,
Saturday, July 15th, at Smith Freels Cemetery in Clinton. Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home of Clinton in charge of all arrangements.
WILLIAMS, LOUIS (DUTCH), - 1907-2000, died July 9. He was born in Jellico,
Tenn. Son of James and Harriet Perkins Williams. He made his home in recent
years in Rockwood, Tenn. with his son and daughter-in-law, David and Darlene
Williams. He was the husband of Mary Kock Williams for 62 years until her
death in 1993. He had three brothers, Joe, Charlie, and Martin; three
sisters, Martha, Carrie, and Nannie. He is survived by his daughter, Harriet
Williams Finley of Madeera, Calif.; two sons, David of Rockwood, Tenn. and
Robert of Crab Orchard, Tenn.; twelve grandchildren; and twenty one great
grandchildren. He was a life time deacon at Linden Avenue Baptist Church,
Dayton, Ohio. for fifty five years. Master mason for sixty years. Retired
from General Motors Frigidare Division in 1972. A volunteer with Food Pantry
in east Dayton for twenty years. Supporter of the East Dayton Improvement
Association, serving as its president. He was a well loved man, Jesus called
him home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000 at the
Llewellyn Funeral Home in Jellico, Tenn. with Rev. David Gould officiating.
Burial in the Jellico Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home 6 to 8 p.m.
Friday and 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday. Llewellyn Funeral Home Jellico in charge.
